Festivals who're leading the way in light and sound experiences

Freshly out from Amsterdam Dance Event 2019 (it was a blast!), we held a number of panel discussions on the key to running successful festivals - with guest speakers from DGTL and Sziget giving their two cents, it got us thinking about how creative and stunning art installations and stage productions are a key to a festivals' success.

Many festivals around the world have put more commitment on stage and light production to create a unique and amazing experience for their visitors. These festivals have an impressive portfolio of performance lighting projects using extremely high-tech lighting fixtures and LED lighting equipment; seeing stage and light production as the link between the festival and its visitors seems to be one of the keys to straight success!

Mo:Dem Festival 2019, Croatia

Mo:Dem Festival, hosted by the Croatian collective MomentoDemento, promotes underground psychedelic music and cutting edge visual and experimental art. An open-minded look on the future, learning, self-improving and going beyond the edge of technical production is what makes Mo:Dem a must-go psychedelic experience!

Shambala Music Festival, Canada

Since that Labour Day weekend in the late '90s, Shambala Music Festival became one of the leading events for the underground electronic music scene. The festival reflects what people love on the dancefloor and their vision of their community with its cutting edge production, amazing art, six uniquely themed stages carefully set up by stage directors, to deliver a once in a lifetime experience. 

Festival Estéreo Picnic, Colombia

Colombia's biggest alternative music festival and one of the most important music events in South America, Estéreo Picnic's vibes are similar to many European's leading festivals focusing on alternative rock, indie music, punk rock, reggae, electronica, and hip hop.  

What started as a day event expanded to two days in 2013 and then to become the gigantic three-day party that it is today complete with music, food, bars, parties, activities and more. Festival Estéreo Picnic gives the possibility to dream along with thousands of other souls with 3 music stages and creative decorations, fireworks, gigantic LED screens, and colorful lights. Ultra Music Festival "RESISTANCE" by Carl Cox, USA

The renowned Ultra Music Festival "RESISTANCE" megastructure by Carl Cox has proven itself to be a theatrical and musical art piece, driving festival's visitors into a full-on sensory musical experience; it's captivating, stimulating both body and mind. Mysteryland, Netherlands

More than 100.000 visitors coming from over 100 countries to enjoy three days of awesome music across 17 stages within the Floriade Terrain, close to Amsterdam. What most contributes to make Mysteryland a great show, together with more than 300 artists performing on stage, are the handcrafted stages ranging from outdoor dance floors to circus tents plenty of LED screens, laser shows and the world's most advanced sound systems. 

Tomorrowland Winter, France

The newest and frozen version of Tomorrowland family had an amazing debut in 2019 in a picturesque landscape of the French alps welcoming around 25,000 people. Just like the castles in the best fairy tales, the stage set up and lights bring you into a neverending dream, while feeling the music shaking your feet and body after a full day of sunny, snowy mountains and skiing. 

Awakenings X Charlotte de Witte presents KNTXT, ADE, Netherlands

Awakenings is one of the true traditions of Amsterdam Dance Event, the annual conference & festival taking place in mid-October in the Dutch capital. Gashouder, considered by many as the "Techno Temple", is filled with thousands of real-time moving LED screens and lights, indoor fireworks and breathtaking basses. The presentation of KNTXT by Charlotte de Witte, Chris Liebing and friends kicked off ADE 2019 Awakenings events like fire on the first day, amazing thousands of visitors.


DGTL Tel Aviv, Israel

While other festivals focus on the notoriety of their headliners, DGTL Tel Aviv is meant to present international and local emerging artists, celebrating the talent of some names as Maceo Plaex, Autarik and many more. DGTL is also known for its absolutely unique light and art works of the music stages and the venues; raw industrial style stages with impressive light, combined with music, technological innovation and with a constant eye on environmental impact make DGTL mI ore than a music festival, but a whole artistic experience. 

Boom Festival, Portugal

Boom Festival is the bi-annual European truly psychedelic festival attracting thousands of visitors ready to celebrate life, freedom, peace, love, and respect of nature. Across the music stages, you can always find art installation or intricate laser displays; a wonderful mix of modern sound systems, laser, and colorful lights and light-art installation will bring you a mystic trip through music!
